On Thursday 23 October the Ricardo Tormo speedway circuit in the Community of Valencia hosts ‘Day of Champions’, a fund-raising event organised by Riders for Health, a motorcyclists’ humanitarian aid organisation.
The event is to raise funds for the aid programmes this organisation runs in various African countries, working with governments, other humanitarian organisations, UNICEF and the World Health Organisation to provide relief for difficult situations and contribute to meeting fundamental needs such as healthcare. In the majority of cases, the thorniest problem is transport for ensuring that healthcare provisions arrive at their destination. This is where the organisation Riders for Health comes in, providing transport for healthcare personnel so that they can reach remote areas where the population needs their services.
The official MotoGP humanitarian organisation hopes that it will be supported by its aficionados again and will outdo the amount it raised last year, 80,000€.
The official MotoGP NGO has organised a full day of activities, including the Riders for Health Market, a visit by Randy Mamola and various other MotoGP riders, the traditional auction, a piano recital by motorcyclist James Toseland, a Stunt Show with Emilio Zamora and, for just 25 euros, anyone who wants to watch this show may do so. And in addition, a small group of aficionados can complete three laps of the Valencian circuit on their own motorbikes, flanked by the official World Championship vehicles. The price is 130 euros per rider and motorbike and 85 euros for the pillion. This ticket price also covers the rest of the activities taking place on this day.
A day to enjoy motorcycling to the full and to give aid to those most in need. Riders for Health at the Ricardo Tormo speedway circuit in Cheste, Community of Valencia, on Thursday 23 October.
