One of the biggest events in Spain’s cycling calendar is the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana, whose third stage is taking place in Poble Nou de Benitatxell. Today, the 26 teams taking part in the race will cover 23 kilometres in a team time trial from the town close to Cumbre del Sol, to Calpe. In just a short time, the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana has managed to earn itself a prestigious reputation among the most important teams on the international stage. Reborn two years ago, the race started up again in 2016 after its last edition in 2008. Proof of the event’s prestige is seen through the level of participation: 11 teams which belong to the World Tour category – the highest division in professional cycling. Some of the winning cyclists in the most important day tests, such as Michal Kwiatkowski (winner in Milan – San Remo), Greg Van Avermaet (winner in Paris – Roubaix and current Olympic champion), Alejandro Valverde and Wout Poels (both winners in Lieja – Bastoña – Lieja), are attending this race as a vital part of their preparation ahead of this season’s most important months. They will all be racing around the streets in Poble Nou de Benitatxell, close to Cumbre del Sol, this afternoon. Thanks to the exceptional climate enjoyed here even in the months of December and January, numerous professional cycling teams choose the region of Alicante – and specifically the towns of Calpe, Denia, and Poble Nou de Benitatxell – for their pre-season stages. As a result, it’s not unusual to travel up to Cumbre del Sol during these months and run into the current Giro d'Italia champion team training in the area. As a region which is often frequented by professional cyclists and bicycle tourists, Cumbre del Sol was included as Stage 9 of the Vuelta a España in 2015. This unprecedented outcome ended in the victory of Dutch Tom Dumoulin, current Giro D’Italia champion, who beat cyclists such as Chris Froome, Nairo Quintana, and Purito Rodríguez. The organisation for the Vuelta a España was satisfied with the results of the edition, and didn’t hesitate to repeat Stage 9 in Cumbre del Sol. Last year, Chris Froome pedalled to victory after his second-place finish in 2015. A few weeks later, the British cyclist would claim the red jersey of the Vuelta a España champion. With the arrival of Christmas holidays, the Teulada-Moraira Auditorium kicks of a season of important events to enjoy with the family, and today you can check  in this post the information about the most remarkable events schedule to be held in the Marina Alta venue: Saturday 30 December at 19:00 h.: Moscow Ballet performs "Don Quixote" Ballet The Moscow Ballet brings us its wonderful and spectacular version of "Don Quixote" with a passionate and frenetic staging of the chapter "The Wedding of Camacho" of the famous work of Miguel de Cervantes, accompanied  by the great score by Ludwig Minkus. Soloists: Alexei and Cristina Terentiev (Soloists in the opera and National Ballet of Moldova). Admission price: 26 euros. Sunday 7 January at 18 00 h.: Musical Play “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” by the UCAM Symphony Orchestra. This play is based on the novel “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” and will be performed by more than 40 musicians from the UCAM Symphony Orchestra, 20 actors, magicians, projections and endless surprises, all that in a beautiful show designed for all audiences. Grupo VAPF had the pleasure of collaborating in the events that were organized in Benissa to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Trinquet court. The event took place after a professional game that took place last Thursday 12 October, whose kick-off was in charge of "pilotaris" who participated in the first game that was ever organized in the Benissa Trinquet. The day ended with a great "Putxero de Pulpo" (Octopus casserole), a tradicional local meal. I was a real pleasure to be able to contribute to the celebration of the 60th anniversary of what we all consider an institution in Benissa.

You are invited to enjoy next week one of the most anticipated gastronomic events in Jávea: the 6th La Mar de Tapas gastronomic fair and tapas crawling, to take place from 13 to 15 October. In this tapas crawling event you can enjoy delicacies from different restaurants and bars of the seaside district of Duanes de la Mar (Port of Jávea) and -in addition to enjoying the excellent gastronomy based on seafood- there will be a crafts market and live music performances, batukada drum show and xaranga. Among the restaurants and bars that will offer their seafood and Mediterranean delicacies in this gastronomic event, we can mention: Ca María, Calima, La Trattoria, Piri Piri, La Bodeguilla, Noray, Varadero, la Esquina, Clavo, Nápoli, Cande, L’Almadrava, Pòsit, Andares Ibéricos, Ca Tomaca, Nodo Gastrobar, Sotavent, Marítimo Picnic i Pizzeria and Café D’Art. The Teulada-Moraira Auditorium already published a preview of the programming for the next season, and today we would like to bring you the information of the upcoming shows to be held in October, so you can book your tickets in advance. Saturday 21 October: The Barber of Seville: Opera buffa by Gioachino Rossini for soloists, choirs and orchestra performed by Opera 2001 company. Opera in Italian language with over titles in Spanish. Last Sunday 27 August we had the opportunity to witness the 9thstage of the Vuelta Ciclista (Spanish Cycling Tour) 2017, with finish line in  Cumbre del Sol, in a day in which we had a great time and we could see Cumbre del Sol full of cycling fans enjoying along the two areas where the race ran through, especially the second and final one (Puig de laLlorença), where the finish line was located.
