VAPF sponsors the first edition of the Colosos del Mediterraneo event

At VAPF, we believe in promoting sports on the Costa Blanca and this year, we are proud to be one of the sponsors of the 1st Edition of the Colosos del Mediterraneo event! This will be a deep-sea fishing and recreational event, organized by the Moraira Yacht Club in collaboration with the Spanish Institute of Oceanography (I.E.O). It will take place in Moraira, from the 28th through the 1st of June. Note that it isn’t considered a competition, but instead an opportunity to join some of the best fisherman across the world and the biggest fish in the Mediterranean. The main idea is to give attendees the opportunity to enjoy recreational fishing as well as exchange their knowledge and experience with one another.
The Spanish Institute of Oceanography is collaborating with the organization of the event, which will follow a catch and release chumming model by boat anchoring or drifting. The event will kick off next Tuesday, May 28th, with a round of tuna fish marking, these fish being the main protagonists of the event.
The next day will begin with a reception for the attendees with registration and check-in, delivery of clothes and supply bags. Throughout the afternoon, they will be distributing labels and ID tags. At night, after a captains’ meeting, there will be a cocktail party for the participants. Thursday, May 30th, will be the official training day for attendees to practice chumming.
Friday and Saturday will be the most intensive days of the Colosos del Mediterraneo event. Everything will kick off those days at 6:00 in the morning, with breakfast and check-in. The boats will be out until about 17:30, at which time they will return to the Moraira marina. Once the two days of fishing wrap up, the panel will review the videos taken during those days and the scores. On Saturday, there will be a closing ceremony at 21:00, and everyone will partake in a special dinner. Trophies and prizes will also be presented at the dinner at the Club Restaurant.
