48 hours on the Costa Blanca North: an escape filled with sea, towns and gastronomy

Some places need no carefully planned itinerary. All you need is time, the freedom to let the Mediterranean set the pace and the chance to choose each experience according to the light, the landscape or the moment of day.

The Costa Blanca North is one of them.

From Cumbre del Sol, located between Moraira and Jávea, a single getaway can bring together nature, coastal towns, gastronomy and some of the most iconic views along the Alicante coastline. Its residential surroundings offer peace and sea views while remaining close to services, restaurants and leisure options.

These 48 hours are not about seeing everything. They are an invitation to pause in a few special places and discover a slower way of experiencing the Mediterranean.

Day one: waking up to the sea

The escape begins early, as the first light appears on the horizon.

Opening the windows, having breakfast on the terrace and watching the Mediterranean change colour is a simple way to understand the character of Cumbre del Sol. From its elevated areas, the landscape unfolds across cliffs, greenery and sea, creating a sense of openness that stays with you from the first hours of the day.

After breakfast, the morning can continue along the coast. A walk along the local trails leads to viewpoints and reveals a landscape where the mountains seem to descend directly into the water. Cumbre del Sol combines hiking and cycling routes with coves and natural spaces that make it possible to enjoy the outdoors for much of the year.

There is no need to travel far. The first plan is simply to breathe, walk and let the sound of the sea replace the usual pace of life for a few hours.

A morning by the Mediterranean

After the walk, it is time to head down to the coast.

Depending on the season, the morning can be spent swimming, relaxing by the water or taking in the view from the shore. Outside the busiest months, the coves have an especially peaceful atmosphere, allowing you to notice the cliffs, vegetation and subtle shifts in the light.

The day continues in Moraira, a town with a seafaring tradition whose centre still bears traces of its historic ties to fishing. Strolling through its streets, visiting the harbour or following the coastline reveals its Mediterranean character without the need for a fixed route.

Flavours that tell the story of the land

Lunch deserves a generous part of the day.

The area’s cuisine is directly connected to its landscape. Fish, locally sourced produce and rice dishes sit alongside contemporary offerings that reinterpret local cooking.

Rather than quickly choosing somewhere to eat, the experience invites you to take a seat and linger. Begin with an aperitif, share several dishes and let lunch stretch into the afternoon with the sea still close by.

Teulada-Moraira’s culinary scene combines traditional cuisine with international influences, reflecting the relationship between the Mediterranean, the land and the people who have shaped the municipality’s identity.

The afternoon can end back at Cumbre del Sol. A pause by the pool, a short walk or dinner on the terrace is all it takes to close the day while watching the last light fade.

Day two: discovering Xàbia at a different pace

The second day begins in Xàbia.

Its historic centre presents a different side of the coast. Narrow streets, façades built from local tosca stone and buildings that recall the town’s walled past reveal a Xàbia more closely connected to history and everyday life.

The route can then continue towards the harbour or one of the seafront promenades. Xàbia brings together beaches, coves, natural spaces, culture and gastronomy, making it easy to adapt the morning to the season: walk, visit the centre, pause by the water or find a terrace for a drink.

Lunch offers another opportunity to discover the flavours of the region. A rice dish, fresh fish or a selection of Mediterranean produce allows the experience to linger before the journey continues south.

One last afternoon among whitewashed streets

To bring the escape to a close, Altea offers a change of scenery.

Its old town, set on higher ground, unfolds through cobbled streets, whitewashed façades, small shops and viewpoints overlooking the bay. Plaza de la Iglesia is one of its main meeting points and lies at the heart of much of the old quarter’s cultural and culinary life.

The best way to discover it is to climb at an unhurried pace, pause whenever the sea appears between the houses and reserve the final moments of the afternoon for admiring the landscape from one of its viewpoints.

The route can then descend towards the seafront promenade. Dinner overlooking the sea is the perfect ending to two days shaped by small moments: a walk, a quiet cove, a long lunch or a street that unexpectedly opens onto the horizon.

Two days to discover another way of life

Forty-eight hours are not enough to explore the whole of the Costa Blanca North.

They are enough, however, to understand something of its essence.

The closeness of sea and mountains. The calm of its towns. The importance of gathering around the table and of conversations that continue long after the meal. The chance to begin the day looking out towards the horizon and end it on a terrace as the light slowly fades over the Mediterranean.

An escape that is not about collecting places, but about discovering how it feels to experience them.
