Grupo VAPF’s partnership with local Pepito Dog Shelter association in Benissa.

At Grupo VAPF, we have begun providing financial support to Pepito Dog Shelter in Benissa, the successor to the former AKIRA, to promote initiatives that protect and improve the welfare of the shelter’s animals.
Pepito Dog Shelter provides a safe temporary home for up to 50 dogs at a time, whether abandoned or rescued, while they await a new home, helping around 250 dogs each year from Benissa, Teulada and Moraira.
Although it receives funding from nearby local councils, Pepito Dog Shelter relies on private donations such as ours and the many activities it organises throughout the year to survive. These resources enable rescued animals to be taken to the vet, vaccinated, dewormed and microchipped; they also fund life-saving operations, help keep the shelter in good condition, manage adoptions, and pay for food and medication. This work also depends on the invaluable contribution of volunteers, who collect abandoned animals, take them to the vet, provide food and water, walk them, clean, administer medication and carry out a long list of essential tasks every day.
As they themselves say, their mission is simple: to provide safety and affection, and a real chance of finding a happy home for every dog that comes into their care.
