By mid-2025, it was estimated that more than 117 million people had been forcibly displaced worldwide, a figure not seen since the Second World War. Shelter is a vital means of survival, essential to restoring personal safety, self-sufficiency and dignity to people forced to flee their homes.
As a partner of the Spanish Committee of ACNUR, Grupo VAPF has made a financial contribution to supporting the provision of housing solutions throughout all stages of forced displacement.
Thanks to this contribution, 21 families (105 people) will gain access to emergency shelter kits, enabling them to build temporary shelters. This supporting helps reduce health risks, improve protection, ensure greater privacy and support a new beginning.
“Shelter is the cornerstone for refugees to survive and recover, and it must be considered a non-negotiable human right.” Filippo Grandi, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
