Tourism in Spain

  On the last months, the news about Spain have changed for the good, as the article “Spain, the 4th most competitive country in the tourism industry” published by the Las Provincias newspaper shows in 7 March 2013.

The biannual report about tourism and competitiveness by the World Economic Forum (WEF) issued on 07 March 2013 explains that Spain has escalated to the 4th position, just behind Switzerland, Germany and Austria, thanks to competitive prices, experience and a real support to the industry in the country.

The report sets the tourism and competitiveness ranking on the grounds of many aspects, such as national law, green sustainability, safety, politic priority and cultural resources.

Spain’s highlight is its cultural heritage, where it stands on first position, thanks to the high amount of World Heritages, and stands out thanks to its great capacity to organize and hold fairs and exhibitions, as well as for its modern sports infrastructure.

Regarding tourist infrastructure, Spain gets the 5th position thanks to its lodging capacity, good car rental services and amount of tellers accepting Visa credit cards.

Spain also gets a good rating when it comes to air and land transportation infrastructure, where it gets the 10th position.

The top 10 of most competitivie countries includes UK, USA, France, Canada, Sweden and Singapore, from 5th to 10th, respectively.
