A cycling route for the fit, since it is classified as of high physical difficulty level.
A circular route taking in all the Vall del Pop municipalities, departing from Vall del Pop Tourism Office in Jalón /Xalòn at 09:30 and finishing in Benissa. Along the route we shall visit the municipalities of Xalò, Lliber, Senija, Benissa, Alcalalì, Parcent, Benigembla and Murla, which form the Vall del Pop Inter-municipal Community.
The name ‘Vall del Pop’ comes from the mountain Caballo Verde, which is also known as ‘del Pop’ mountain, where the remains of a Moorish castle - ‘del Pop Castle’ - are located. The original population of the valley was mainly Moorish, although it was subsequently populated by people from the Balearic Islands and Catalonia; the Vall del Pop community comprises the municipalities of Alcalalí, Benigembla, Murla and Parcent (the founding municipalities) and Xalò Senija, Lliber and Castell de Castell, which joined in 1991. Later still Benissa joined.
The “Pedal Power: Vall del Pop-Benissa” tourism by bike route takes four hours to complete and covers 37 Km, its technical difficulty level is medium and an off-road bike is recommended. Bring water, a snack, cycle gear or comfortable clothing, sun screen and sunglasses, trainers and identity document. Wearing a helmet is compulsory.
