Port marinas awarded Blue Flag status in 2009 in the province of Alicante.
The Blue Flag is an environmental quality award given to port marinas which make particular efforts as regards proper environmental of the port and of the surrounding natural area, and provide information about environmental issues to the users of facilities. The criteria taken into account by the European Environmental Education Foundation (EEF) for awarding Blue Flag status to port marinas are based on:
639 Blue Flags have been awarded to ports internationally, among which 78 were for Spanish ports. The Community of Valencia has received 12 awards, of which 11 were awarded to ports in the province of Alicante - a great success for Alicante ports.
