Guided rambling excursions in Montgó Natural Park on Sunday 28 June 2009.
The guided rambling excursion through Montgó natural Park is organised by the park’s Information Centre. The meeting and departure point is Torrecremada car park, next to Plaza Jaime I, at 9.00 a.m. The Cova Tallada (Tallada Cave) excursion takes place on Sunday 28 June. It lasts 3 hours, covers 6 km and is classified as medium-high difficulty level (not recommended for persons with any kind of physical impairment or who suffer from vertigo). The best time of the year for these excursions is end of spring and beginning of summer, when we can enjoy the impressive flora of this area with such spectacular species as ‘Herba Santa’, found only in the Montgó Massif and Ibiza, the scented whiteness of ‘Zanahoria Marina’ or the stunning ‘Milamores’. The route runs from the end of the Las Rotas road to Torre del Gerro (Gerro watchtower), on to Cova Tallada Ravine, arrival at the cave, bathing in the cave and return along the coast. Cova TalladaThis cave, partially submerged by the sea, is located in an area difficult to access in Las Rotas, near the Gerro watchtower. This in former times was a tuff stone quarry, a material favoured in the region for building. In the hottest months of the year it is possible (and a very good idea) to bathe in the Cova Tallada where in addition, simply using a diving mask, you can enjoy the abundant marine fauna in the Marine Reserve. |
