Next weekend will see the 2008 XIII Edition of Live Chess in Javea, a Fiesta declared to be of National Tourism Interest.
Next Saturday 26 July at 22:30, the western jetty of Javea harbour will see the XIII Edition of Live Chess in Javea.
The Javea Live Chess event began in 1996 and was declared “Fiesta of National Tourism Interest” in 2002. Since its beginning, it has been organised by the Mare de Deu de Loreto Fiestas Committee and the Javea chess club, along with the town council and partner companies.
The Javea Live Chess is not merely a work of theatre, but also tries to maintain cultural, informative and constructive criticism elements.
It consists of a live chess match between two players or the simple representation of a brilliant chess match taken from the history of chess.
The play or the match takes place with a narrator and two players who move the chess pieces. In this edition, the person narrating the movements of the white pieces is biochemist Santiago Grisolía, and the player moving the black pieces is the scholar Lautaro Molina (classified in the Hogueras Tournament of San Juan de Xàbia), and the narrator is Valencian doctor Manuel Bordes.
The match on which the live chess play is based is the match between Ramón y Cajal and his assistant Solano in Zaragoza in 1898.
This show is interesting for the whole family and particularly for young children, given the benefits that practising this millennial game can contribute to the training of scholars.
If you are at the Cumbre del Sol Development in Benitachell this weekend, visit Javea and its Live Chess event, only 7 Km away from the development with sea-view apartments and luxury tailor-made villas.
